Azrael and Fae from Amethyst Eyes
I did this for DA's "Draw This Again" contest. When I first read about it, I knew I would give it a go, since I had been considering redoing another old painting, anyway. But since I'd already redone most of my old favorites, I had to do a bit of digging to find another one, so I picked this one:

I took this opportunity to really get in some practice painting what =HotaruThodt
has so aptly dubbed "spacey shit", which you may have noticed I love to include in my AE art. As to why I do that...I guess I've always thought it appropriate, in relation to the universal nature of death; everything from the smallest microorganism to the universe itself will eventually die. The vastness of space emphasizes the insignificance and brevity of human life, and it remains such a mystery to us, just like death. Things like that seem to be more representative of death to me than the usual skulls and tombstones.
